Kristy Acosta, M.D., received her Doctor of Medicine degree from University of Texas at Galveston, then went on to complete a Family Practice Residency at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, followed by an OB Fellowship at Cone’s Health Women’s Hospital. Dr. Acosta is fluent in French and Spanish, board certified with The American Board of Family Physicians and has been practicing at Brownfield Regional Medical Center Rural Health Clinic since 2020.

Cornelia DeRiese, M.D., Ph.D., MBA is credentialed by the German (1986) and American Boards (2005) in general Obstetrics and Gynecology; she is also board certified in the subspecialty of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS). In addition, she carries an MBA from the Rawls College of Business, Texas Tech University (2011). In 2014 she added the certification as a North American menopause practitioner (NAMS), almost a natural progression with the clinical overlap between the specialties of urogynecology and menopause medicine.

She has served on faculty with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Lubbock for almost 18 years before stepping down from that position in 2019 and after a short break continuing as part time faculty on the Permian Basin campus until the end of 2023. Besides working in academia, she also has extensive experience in the medical settings of private practice, rural health and acute care hospitals and obstetric emergency rooms.

In 2011 she founded the Uro-gynecology clinic within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Texas Tech Physicians in Lubbock. She was instrumental in introducing the first generations of Lubbock gynecology as well as urology residents in training to the important chapters of female pelvic medicine and menopause practice.

Following the troubling misinterpretations of the World Health Initiative (WHI) study in 2003, there is a tremendous need in clinical expertise to adequately serve a rapidly growing segment of society. Dr. de Riese initiated structured resident lectures within her own department, the department of Internal Medicine and in Family Medicine to help overcome the state of misperception and confusion in menopause care. Listed as an expert on the NAMS website, she is drawing patients from 100s of miles away. Not just patients put a lot of trust in Dr. de Riese, similarly do the many referring physicians from the West Texas area.

Besides a busy clinic schedule Dr. de Riese had been managing to participate actively in resident and medical student education, including facilitation of honor’s projects and staffing the Lubbock Impact Free Student Clinic. For more than 15 years she has been serving on the Lubbock TTUHSC Internal Review Board (IRB) and she has been part of numerous other professional committees.

Dr. De Riese’ approach to clinical practice and teaching reflects her way of life in general: “holistic”, “simplistic”, and “sustainable”, hence her prime hobbies and volunteer activities are involving the outdoors, supporting the Lubbock Arboretum Foundation as a board member, hiking, swimming and gardening. In her earlier career she was predominantly surgically oriented, but now has developed a growing interest in healthy lifestyle, nutrition and fitness, an area of need within the evidence-based practice and some of her recent research is focusing on these important topics.

Since 2020 Dr. de Riese has been listed as one of the Texas Super Doctors by the Texas Monthly.

Paul Chebib, M.D., received his Doctor of Medicine degree and completed an internship in general medicine at Saint Joseph University in Beirut Lebanon.  Upon arriving in the U.S., Dr. Chebib completed an Internal Medicine residency at Atlantic City Medical Center. Dr. Chebib is Board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Arabic. Dr. Chebib has been practicing at Brownfield Regional Medical Center Rural Health Clinic in Family Practice since 1998. Dr. Chebib is also active in long-term care attending to the residents of the Apex Secure Care, Ralls Nursing Home, and Clarendon Nursing Home.

Cyndi Browne, APRN-CNP, a lifelong resident of the South Plains, Cyndi and her husband call Seagraves home. After acquiring her RN, Mandy took on the roles of Trauma Coordinator in 2005 and in 2008 Mandy was the director for BRMC Home Care. Mandy went on to receive her master’s degree in Nursing and specialty in Family Nurse Practitioner from Texas Tech Health Science Center in 2013.
